2009 BMW X6 by AC Schnitzer

AC Schnitzer released 2009 BMW X6

AC Schnitzer has released a new styling and performance package for the new 2009 BMW X6. As if the X6 wasn't already turning enough heads, you can add an aggressive body kit to attract more attention (good or bad - that's up to you). The AC Schnitzer X6 gets a new front skirt with diagonal intakes and repositioned fog lamps. A huge rear bumper is also added with repositioned exhaust pipes. AC Schnitzer ACS6 Review

German uberBimmertuner AC Schnitzer is most famous for their triple-wikkid M6 TENSION concept: a two-toned yellow and grey beast of such pornographic hideousness there's a California court order banning it from driving within 100 feet of a schoolyard or playground. Schnitzer's relative demure ACS6 is a standard BMW 645 Convertible with 21' Dub-and-a-halfs, snarlier exhaust note, carbon-fiber interior, dropped suspension and, uh, ground effects. So how do you test a car that tugs most firmly at the heart strings of those who live in Newport Beach and Qatar? I called Jalopy's Davey G and headed down the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) to see if all exotics are sexually attracted to telephone poles.

You know the story, right? Swedish videogame mogul and maybe mafia man smuggles $1m Ferrari Enzo into the US, races his wife's equally embezzled $450k McLaren SLR on PCH, hits a telephone pole, cleaves the Fezza in two, wanders drunk around the hillside shouting "Dietrich ate my homework," etc. Obviously, the Schnitzel isn't in the same league as the Enzo— it's rarer. In fact, the ACS6 is the spot-on perfect vehicle to retrace Bo "Stefan" Eriksson's ill-fated joyride. It glides, it's built, the top drops and everyone looks at you. Everyone. I parked mein AC at a public park in San Pedro and a crowd gathered. It was 9:00 in the morning on a Tuesday. In Califrigginfornia.

BMW X6 tuned up by MCCHIP

Another month, another tuner that takes on a BMW X6 project. We have seen Hamann earlier this month pimping out an X6 and in November, it was Lumma's time to come out with their own X6 version; and of course, the famous german tuner AC Schnitzer was the first one to showcase their own X6 Falcon.

Following the same trend, another tuner MCCHIP, takes a different approach on a BMW X6 xDrive35d. Their focus was on offering an X6 model with a lower ride height, closer to a sedan. Their X6 was lowered 40mm up front and 30mm in the back, sitting on all-black 20 inch wheels.

Named, the White Shark, the MCCHIP X6 gets a power upgrade which boosts the diesel's power up to 340hp (254kW) and 487lb-ft (660Nm) of torque, making the BMW X6 White Shark with 46hp (34kW) and 59lb-ft (80Nm) more powerful.

The re-flashing also raises the max speed from the factory-limited 148mph (238km/h) up to 156mph (251km/h).

Pricing? Not too shabby considering the improvements, the ECU reflash costs just €849 ($1,160) in Germany, while the lowering kit, new black chrome grille and other small exterior tweaks are set at €1,266 ($1,730).

My opinion? A very classy X6 without all the whistles and bells the other tuners showcased, but a little too low for my taste. If I were to buy an X6, it will be to compromise between a sedan and an X5, keeping the ride height somewhere in the middle.

AC Schnitzer releases new package for facelifted 3-Series

Specialist BMW tuner AC Schnitzer has announced the release of another new upgrade package, this time for the facelifted BMW E90 3-Series sedan and E91 touring models. AC Schnitzer has upgraded the cars with a number of aesthetic and performance pieces, including a dramatic new front spoiler. The Aachen-based company claims that the new aesthetic appearance places an emphasis on dynamics and that "instead of bulky curves, straight and slender forms are used." Additionally, in homage to BMW's race cars, the front spoiler elements finish at the bottom in a pointed "bow".
