2009 DStyle BMW Z4

2009 DStyle BMW Z4

From the racetrack on the road. During dstyle in Erdweg, near Munich, BMW vehicles get exactly what they deserve: fine tuning, unique individualization.

The concept and design of dstyle is heavily inspired by motorsports, as Dominik Schwager, the man behind the project, has been active for 20 years on the racetracks in the world is underway.

The Japan Legionnaire Dominik Schwager was for many years in Japanese racing committed. There, the 32-year-old international professional maturity fetched. Audience in the Japanese GT Championship (technically comparable to the DTM), he can celebrate many victories and has been two years back on German race tracks on the road.

On the basis of the current BMW Z4 roadster and coupe Dominik Schwager developed a 10-piece refinement package that the sports considerably athletic appear. The aerodynamics package, in order to guarantee exclusivity, limited to 100 pieces and called for the coupe "Z4CS" and for the roadster "Z4RS."

To the hood, doors and tailgate, the car with the aerodynamic package completely changed. No question: The proportions are now consistent and athletic, so there are lush 50mm front and 70mm rear more space to even bigger wheel / tire combinations to accommodate. With the wider track is an improvement of driving dynamics achieved without compromising the air resistance is too strong to affect.

Through the new aerodynamically shaped mirrors, also the possibility the side blinker, which in the unsuccessfully explored fenders, now existing in the cavity of the mirror construction.

The face and back of the BMW was a particularly sporty-looking front and rear equipped. The silhouette of BMW Z4 emphasize the new and widely exhibited side skirts, with the front and rear Kotflügelverbreiterungen perfect finish. With the new rear fenders is on the right side a sporting Tankdeckel been integrated.

The unique aerodynamic package is available from 8900.00 euro - the whole thing in CSF and can be manufactured Carbon!

But what would be perfect tuning without a new factory wheels? Perfectly fits the 19-inch sports rim of the new BMW M6-dstyle exterior package. The rims with tires in size 245/35 ZR19 and 275/35 ZR19 equipped.

BMW R1200GS Barbie Edition. WTF?

BMW R1200GS Barbie EditionWhen I first saw this picture I checked the calendar to see if today is by any chance Valentine's Day and this is just the result of some guy desecrating his bike in order for his girl to forgive him for not spending as much time cuddling or something like that. But no! There have actually been "rumors" (which I would have loved not to hear about)) that BMW is preparing a Barbie Edition and this is just a rendering of that because otherwise the world of those who actually go around the world (...)

BMW M6 DINAN STYLE

Now this is a MMMM6 Dinan style

 Stock M6

Starting at $101,700 MSRP

5.0-liter, V-10 engine

500 horsepower

Rear-wheel drive

17 mpg hwy*

High performance from high-speed engines: that's the philosophy of BMW M. This compact, high-revving, V-10 power unit develops enormous thrust and muscle that's always on tap. At 5.0 liters of displacement and 500 horsepower, the V-10 produces 100 horsepower per liter - a remarkable feat for a naturally aspirated production engine. And its power-to-weight ratio of one horsepower per each eight pounds is a figure more representative of a racecar than one you'd have in your driveway.

 What you get from Dinan

We could imagine getting only the suspension upgrades plus wheels and tires for a little more than 9 G's but who needs 628 hp anyway? Well, everybody who like having more than everyone else and it's nice to have the option.

In order to handle the extra horsepower and torque, Dinan added his own forged crank and lightweight forged pistons and connecting rods, then balanced and blueprinted the whole thing and managed it with matching electronics and software. With a forty grand price tag, is in no way cheap, but it gets you 128 more horses.

Steve Dinan, on the other hand, has a 30-year history of making extremely fast BMWs for those who can afford it, cars smooth enough for grocery runs yet track-day ready if needed. Dinan's latest work, a 628-bhp 5.6-liter upgrade of the V-10-powered M6,  through the quarter mile in a magma-hot 11.9 seconds at 124.8 mph, circles our skidpad at 0.94g and comes to a dead stop from 80 mph in 194 ft. (the same numbers for a stock M6 are 12.4 at 118.1, 0.88 and 209). A 3.8-sec. romp to 60 mph, indulging some in wheel spin romping, will see you head to head with a certain thoroughbred horse, the F430. And yes you can race a 911 GT2 to 120 mph? A dead heat at 10.9 sec.

"BMW has a recommended break-in procedure of 1,200 miles that is you have to keep the speed under control through the break-in period," said Dinan. "I don't think I could control myself for that long."

BMW M3 Recalled Due to DCT Transmission Issue

Okay, so this is very reminiscent of the big recall BMW had on the previous generation E46 BMW M3 for a rod bearing in the years 2001 to 2003.5. Now all new BMW M3's with a DCT Transmission have been recalled which tally's to about 2500 cars. Although this is not near as big as the E46 recall, many enthusiasts who purchased or ordered a new BMW M3 with the DCT Transmission will now have "that feeling" in their gut on whether or not this car is "reliable". The issue occurs when the car is in a near panic stop/breaking. The transmission will attempt to downshift several times to the point where it causes the engine to stall. The good news about this recall is that it is resolved with a software update. You would think that automakers would get the DCT/Dual Clutch setup right by now; it is not as if about half of the automakers are coming out with their own version of a dual clutch setup.

Oh look… it's the new iDrive controller next to the DCT shifter. Wheew!
