A Rare Legend: Alpina B12 E31

As the one-stop BMW news shop that we pride ourselves to be, we're here to bring not only the latest and greatest news, but also some old school stuff. And today, is one of those days when once again, we have some old school bimmers to showcase.

Andrew is the in-house expert on "oldies", but today is my turn to fill that spot. I'm not sure how many of you heard of an Alpina B12 based on the 8 Series E31, I know I haven't, but apparently, there were  two versions produced.

The B12 5.0 Coupe was based on the 850i, powered by the 5.0-liter M70 engine producing 350 bhp (260 kW), and available only with a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The larger B12 5.7 Coupe was based on the 850CSi, with the 5.7-liter S70 engine producing 416 bhp (310 kW/422 PS) with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Our friend Tizi from the Czech Republic got his hands one of these beauties for a magazine photoshoot and decided to share them with us.

If you've driven one, would care to share your experience with us?
